Flowcall Download

Getting started

This takes about ten minutes. By the end you will have Flowcall installed, an example pipeline run, and its result open in front of you.

1. Install Flowcall

  1. Download FlowcallSetup-0.14.0.exe from the download page. Your browser saves it to your Downloads folder.
  2. Open it. Double-click the file, or click it in your browser's downloads list.
  3. If you see "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway. (See below for why.)
  4. Welcome. Click Next.
  5. License Agreement. Read it, choose "I accept the agreement", and click Next.
  6. Choose a folder. The suggested folder is fine. It is inside your own user folder, which is why no administrator rights are needed.
  7. Desktop icon. Leave "Put a Flowcall icon on the desktop" ticked if you want one. Click Next, then Install.
  8. Finish. Leave "Open Flowcall now" ticked and click Finish. Flowcall opens in its own window.
  9. Create your account. Pick a username and a password. The first account owns this copy of Flowcall. You accept the License Agreement once more here, because this is where the person who will use Flowcall signs up.

2. Run your first example

  1. In Flowcall, open Learn and choose Examples.
  2. Install Your first pipeline. It appears in the list on the left, with its three steps on the canvas.
  3. Press Run now, then open the Runs tab and watch each step finish.
  4. Open the Results tab to see the table the pipeline made. Every file has a View button and a separate Download button.

The first-pipeline example page lists its steps, and the Analytics guide explains what is going on.

3. Put it on a schedule

Open the Pipeline tab and choose when it runs, for example "weekdays at 06:30". Schedules use your computer's local time. Flowcall runs schedules while it is running, even with its window closed. If the computer was off when a run was due, Flowcall runs it once when it starts again, if it was less than 6 hours late.

To stop Flowcall completely, use Settings → Account → Quit Flowcall.

4. Connect your own data

Open Settings → Connections, pick your warehouse (BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, Postgres, SQL Server, Azure SQL, MySQL or SQLite) and fill in the short form. Press Test. Passwords are stored encrypted and never shown again. Then add a SQL step to a pipeline and choose the connection.

To bring in a spreadsheet instead, upload it under Settings → Files and add a Move a file step that brings it into the run.

5. Ask for help from the assistant

Describe what you need in plain words, such as "every weekday, load payments.csv, check there are no blanks in account_id, and email me the total". The assistant drafts the pipeline, tests it in a scratch folder and shows you a card. Nothing is saved until you press Create pipeline. Set it up under Settings → Assistant.

If you get locked out

You own the computer, so you can always get back in. Close Flowcall, open the folder Flowcall is installed in, and run reset-account.bat. It can reset a password or create a new owner. Your pipelines and history are kept.

Running Flowcall on a server

Flowcall can also run on a server for a team, with Docker or as a plain Python process behind HTTPS. The README.md in the zip download has the steps. Server mode is newer than the Windows app; if you plan to use it for a team, contact us first.
